Always check your change and be careful when paying with large-denomination bills. I paid a $28 bill with a $50 note; when I got my change back, I was given $17, meaning I was short $5. When I questioned it, I was told the difference was the tip. This had never happened to me before—I always tip, and as far as I know, it isn't mandatory.

To clarify, tipping is always appreciated and encouraged, but it is NEVER mandatory. A tip should only be given at the customer’s discretion and should not be automatically deducted from the change without the customer’s knowledge or consent. After checking our security camera, it showed that the waitress mistakenly short changed you $5. However, you never asked her about it nor she replied the money is for tip. It was purely a cash handling accident which should not happen. You are one of our regular and we would not want to lose a customer due to an unfortunate accident.
