6PM – I called to place a pickup order and was offered a texted ordering link or the option to speak with a team member. The link never arrived. When I called again, an irritatingly cheerful voicemail prompted me to leave my order. I provided my order, name, and phone number but received neither confirmation nor a callback. Several more attempts to reach a team member went straight to voicemail. Ordering online added a $0.50 fee, while Uber Eats would have cost $2.00 more. On principle, I object to paying extra for takeout, which costs the restaurant the least: no dishes or table space and minimal staff involvement. I wanted my husband’s pickup order ready when he arrived, but the advance-ordering options either failed or seemed unfair. He had to order in person and wait—a major inconvenience. I assumed the restaurant was too busy to answer calls, yet the reception area was empty. I felt Max was unwilling to accommodate customers’ preferred way of ordering.
