We did a sampling of like half the menu and it was all excellent
Hakkında
Makina is the first Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurant in Queens — a full-service dining room on Skillman Avenue in Sunnyside, born from the yellow food truck founder Eden G. Egziabher brought to NYC streets in 2017. Habesha cooking anchors the menu: doro wot simmered for hours, kitfo, berbere-spiced prawns, sambusas, and platters served over injera. Vegan and vegetarian options are a specialty here, not an afterthought. Italian colonial history runs through it too, from injera bruschetta to tiramisu, and the bar pours cocktails like the Amiche, bourbon fat-washed with Ethiopian spiced butter. Woman-approved and rooted in the neighborhood. Walk-ins welcome, reservations recommended, built for long dinners with people you like.
