I came to Chicago for the first time and really wanted to support a Haitian restaurant and enjoy some good Haitian food, but unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. We started by ordering drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were extremely disappointing. The marinade was oily and hard, and the accra was just not good at all. For my meal, I ordered griot and oxtail. The griot was extremely salty but somehow still had no real flavor. The oxtail was soggy and also lacked flavor. The ONLY thing I actually enjoyed was the djon djon rice. What made it even worse was the service. Our drinks didn’t come until we were already halfway through our meals! And we weren’t waiting on complicated alcoholic drinks — I ordered a simple lemonade and passion fruit juice. After waiting all that time, the lemonade wasn’t even good. As a Haitian visiting Chicago, I was excited to see what the Haitian food scene had to offer. I really wanted to leave a positive review, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I’m sorry, but y’all need to do better. The food lacked flavor, the appetizers were terrible, and the service was way too slow. Haitian food is supposed to be full of flavor — this was not it. 🇭🇹
