Samarkand Nights brings the food of Uzbekistan to Mill Basin. Our plov is slow-cooked the traditional way, with lamb, carrots and rice seasoned with cumin. Our shashlik goes over open charcoal: lamb, lamb ribs, beef, chicken, salmon and Chilean sea bass. Samsa and manti are folded fresh in our kitchen, the lagman is hand-pulled, and the soups run to shurpa, kharcho and pelmeni. Everything we serve is halal. You will find us on Strickland Avenue with free parking, a dining room built for families and large groups, and a private room for birthdays, engagements and celebrations. There are vegetarian dishes, a kids' menu and high chairs, and we cater. Lunch specials Tuesday through Friday. Dine in, takeout and delivery. Closed Mondays.

From the moment I entered this spot after a long drive back to my new adobe, I knew I had made the right choice. Greeted hospitabily by the kind hostess Kamila, I was impressed by the casual yet classy ambiance of the space. Very few places in cities like NY I feel can serve as both a casual stop for after work grub and a more planned date or family gathering. The food? Just as great as the pictures looked. While the focus is no doubt on the kebabs for good reason, the appetizers such as Manti and Pelmeni are generously plated and just as mouth watering. I was also happy to discover the Uzbek Plov, a very colorful rice and lamb dish that can be had as a half portion, which might indeed be enough for one person, and can easily be shared. There is beer and wine available at a very reasonable price to compliment these delicacies. I hope what I wrote above conveys the tremendous value and hospitality present in this place.

A welcome addition to MB. Food is tasty & fresh. Love the chicken kebabs with the combination dip platter. The Uzbek bread is delicious as well.
