One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in New York. Walking into Mombar feels less like entering a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. The owner runs the entire place himself, cooks everything, and personally walks you through the menu for the evening. The space is peppered with his own artwork, adding to the incredible warmth and intimacy of the whole experience. And the food is phenomenal! The lamb was unbelievably tender, the beet salad was to die for, and everything felt comforting while still being completely exquisite. Come with patience, bring a bottle of wine (it’s BYOB), bring cash, and just let yourself enjoy the experience. An absolute gem.

1 of a kind restaurant! Please do not come here expecting your typical restaurant experience. Understand you are getting an authentic Egyptian home cooked meal that happens to be in a restaurant in Queens. Also it is imperative to understand prior, that just like being a guest in someone's house and receiving a meal; it is a 1 MAN SHOW. The star is a man named Moustafa. He single handedly does the prep, the cooking, the serving, the cleaning, the dishes by hand, and customer interaction. He is a talented artist and most of the decor is his work from floor to ceiling. I see that some patrons have complained of slow service, personally was not my experience but I can see how because Moustafa is literally doing EVERYTHING himself. Be gracious, BYOB, bring cash, tip well, and an open mind to experiencing something you will never find anywhere else. Lastly, there is no set menu, when you are a guest in someone's home you happily accepted whatever they felt like cooking for you that day. You have choices but the menu is obviously limited. A lot of the experience also is getting to know your host. He is a fascinating man and incredibly friendly. Serving guests delicious, well portioned cuisine is his passion and he definitely cooks from the heart.

Worst place you can go to. Service sucks here. An hour and half for appetizers to be ready. Food tastes terrible. Worker very disrespectful.
