Malai Indian Cuisine

First time here and I have to say this is the best I’ve had so far in St. Pete. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. The server/bartender provided great efficient service. You get your moneys worth in food. I had the Lamb Biryani, and it was cooked to order. The Naan bread, mango lassi mmmm! The food was perfect! I basically was able to take 3 servings back home lol.

I was pleasantly surprised since I didn't expect much from a restaurant located in an area that sees mostly visitors that will not return no matter how good the experience was. The baingan bharta was the best I had in the US. The eggplant had been grilled very well adding smokiness to the dish. The dish ordered at a medium spice level had still a nice kick to it. I enjoyed the added green peas for their texture and sweetness. That said, I encountered several pieces of fibrous star anise and the licorice flavour got a bit overwhelming. I will go back for their baingan bharta but order it in hot. The Vegetable pekora was good but the batter in the middle was still raw. The garlic naan was soft, hot, and tasty but again the dough on the middle needed another minute. The smosa chat was a great appetizer, but I realized that I like crisp samosas. I

Malai Indian Cuisine is such a great spot! The atmosphere is warm, modern, and beautifully decorated. The food was delicious, especially the fresh, soft naan and flavorful main dishes. Everything tasted authentic and well prepared. I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back!
