My wife and I dined at the historic Columbia Restaurant in Tampa’s Ybor City, and it was a wonderful experience. Established in 1905, this remarkable restaurant is much more than just a place to eat; it’s a piece of Florida’s culinary history, beautifully preserved through generations of family ownership. From the moment you enter, you’re transported into Old World Spanish elegance with hand-painted tiles, fountains, and richly decorated dining rooms. As the former corporate pastry chef for Hyatt Hotels for twenty-seven years, and the former owner of The All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva, Illinois, for seventeen years, I know first-hand how difficult it is to maintain consistency and quality over time. Columbia delivers where it counts: ambiance, service, and food. We especially loved the shrimp and rice; it was full of flavor. Everything we saw coming from the kitchen looked wonderful. Reservations are recommended. Five stars without hesitation.
The shrimp and rice is sneaky great. Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for sharing so many of the aspects that grabbed your educated eye.
