Amazing food

The proverbial hole in the wall, but it’s a compliment, because the hole in the wall is where you are guaranteed to get the best food. 🧏🏻‍♂️ And as a bonus, they have CNN on in the background. As an enhancement for your meal.

I stopped in for lunch today and ordered the chicken and lamb combo. I wish I had trusted my first impression and walked back out. From the moment I entered, the place had the feel of a restaurant in decline. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and their exchanges with me were curt and short. The whole interaction was awkward enough that I seriously considered leaving, particularly once it became clear the meal would cost more than a normal lunch. I was hungry, so I decided to roll the dice. When I mentioned I would be eating in, I was prompted to tip, and I gave 15% before a single plate had come out. I felt obliged in the moment. I regret it now. The food was terrible, in both appearance and taste. The salad looked old, and the tomato betrayed its age with shriveled skin. I did not touch it. The yogurt sauce carried such an extreme amount of vinegar that one taste was enough. The chickpeas had an off color that I have never seen on this dish anywhere else. The chicken tasted stale, and I ate only a portion of it, mostly because I did not want to feel like a sucker for having tipped on a meal I could not finish. I have eaten a great deal of kabob in my day, and this did not look or taste like any of it. The single redeeming feature of the establishment was the men's restroom, which was clean and tidy. That is unusual enough that I want to thank them for keeping it that way for their patrons. I do not recommend this location. I regret spending the money on this lunch, and I am hoping it does not make me sick.
