Very disappointing experience Unfortunately, our experience at Baby Cafe was extremely disappointing from both a food quality and cleanliness standpoint. We ordered fuchka, jhalmuri, bhelpuri, lassi, and chotpoti, and honestly, almost everything was unpleasant. The first thing we noticed was the smell. There was a strong, unpleasant odor around the food area that immediately made us uncomfortable. The area where the fuchka shells are stored/kept was visibly dirty and had a really bad smell. It gave us the impression that the area was not being cleaned properly or regularly. ALSO THEY DON’T WASH THEIR DISHES/ FUCHKA SHOTS properly after you eat they will just rinse with water and serve the next customer. For a restaurant serving food that is eaten directly, cleanliness should be one of the most important things. The chotpoti was particularly disappointing. It was extremely watery and seemed to have very little substance besides chickpeas and what felt like mostly chickpea skins. It lacked flavor and was very bland. We expected a flavorful, properly prepared chotpoti, but this was nowhere close to what we expected. The jhalmuri was also disappointing because it was damp rather than fresh and crunchy. That completely changed the texture and made it unpleasant to eat. The bhelpuri and fuchka were not enjoyable either, especially considering the overall smell and condition of the food area. The lassi was nothing special either and, given everything else, the overall meal was just not worth what we paid. Another part of the experience that made us uncomfortable was the way the owner kept looking at us. I don’t want to assume anyone’s intentions, but the repeated staring made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome while we were there. Combined with the cleanliness concerns, it made the entire visit feel unpleasant. I really wanted to enjoy this place, especially because the menu has foods I normally love, but unfortunately the food quality, cleanliness, smell, and overall atmosphere made this a very disappointing visit. I hope the management takes the cleanliness concerns seriously, especially the area where the fuchka shells are stored, and pays more attention to the freshness and preparation of the food. Based on our experience, we would not return also won’t recommend anyone either. THANKS 👍
