LuckyFolds Dumpling House

Tried the new LuckyFolds Dumpling House in Springfield. The space is brand new — clean, bright, and nicely decorated. I had the Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup ($14.95). The broth was fine and the price is reasonable, but the noodles aren't hand-pulled, and the beef slices were paper-thin with a greasy taste I didn't care for. Overall the food is just average — nothing wrong, but nothing memorable either. Might give their dumplings a try next time since that's their namesake, but the beef noodle didn't win me over.

Very rude service and small portions! Do not get the pork belly bowl if you’re hungry! (See pics) Do not believe all these positive reviews. They give you unreasonably small portions, the food is inauthentic, bland, and service was very poor even if they were under a “soft opening”phase there’s absolutely no reason to refuse fixing an incorrectly made order when you barely give the customer any food. I do not recommend this spot if you want actual authentic Chinese dumplings as the food here was really bad, the manager refused to make things right, and they treated me very poorly as a first time customer. As a Chinese diner looking for authentic Chinese in the DMV, this place is NOT authentic and lacks flavor. When you don’t see many Asian customers dining, you understand why. Very disappointing food combined with rude customer service. I got the beef wrap, cold potato salad, braised pork belly bowl, and the okra soup dumplings. The beef wrap was only ok, but not as good as the versions I’ve had at other Chinese restaurants in Fairfax. The cold potato salad was okay, refreshing and a bit spicy. However, nothing they had was really that authentic feeling or flavorful. Most of the food was VERY bland and the pork bowl had no salt and was incredibly bland, no sauce or braised seasoning, not even a hint of star anise or sugar. The xiao long bao was also very bland, the broth had zero flavor but the wrap was soft. I’ve had soup dumplings from Rockville and LA and NYC…these were a total miss. And, do NOT get the pork belly bowl - they give out incredibly small portions! But it wasn’t so much the small portion that bothered me. It was managements refusal to make things right when I asked for a bit more meat since they didn’t even fill up my bowl. There was barely meat in my bowl, maybe 1-2 small spoonfuls. The meat didn’t even cover up the rice, it was a single very thin layer of meat poured on. For $15 I was hoping for a bowl that had a normal human portion size. I asked the server and they refused any fixes. That’s just horrible service. The bowl portion was so much smaller than the menu picture and I felt deceived. I mentioned to them I was still hungry due to the incredibly small portion they served me and the server didn’t seem to care at all. I have never in all the Asian restaurants I’ve tried in the DMV ever left hungry after spending $30+ on food. Also after I raised the concerns I did not appreciate how one server started complaining in mandarin. I found this to be very rude considering they wouldn’t resolve the order issue. This was overall such a disappointing experience that they could have easily addressed if the owner wasn’t so cheap and didn’t refuse to fix a simple issue of giving out small portions. I usually support small business but not when management is so cheap and they are JUST opening. Will not be coming back due to their fake response and refusal to make things right and fair. Avoid.

10s across the board! Came here on a whim because we were passing through springfield and wow amazing. place was surprisingly empty. must not be super known because the food was IMMACULATE! everything was great even the amazing service. she even gave us complimentary ice cream! will definitely be coming back to this hidden gem!
