Lokum Mediterranean Restaurant and Bar

Great service and ambiance! The complimentary bread was warm and fluffy. Our server Vural was very helpful and attentive. Since there were food intolerances, he asked the kitchen about all the food that was ordered. I really appreciated that. I'm not sure how careful the kitchen actually was regarding the food intolerances. They also cooked the food for a little too long. I'd still recommend this restaurant. Just be extra careful with food intolerances.

After we drove two hours to check out this place, we found it closed, and they didn’t update their hours on Google. Google says they are open until 1 AM, and we arrived at 11:30 PM, so they should have been open, but they were still closed. It’s a very bad experience. We drove two hours to get there. It shows a lack of respect for customers — when you decide to close, you should at least update your Google hours so you don’t waste people’s time and gas.

Service was great, but unfortunately, the food was absolutely terrible. This was my third time trying this spot, and honestly, it has been a disappointing experience every single time. I tried to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and forget about my previous two experiences, but this visit was just as bad, if not worse. I ordered oysters, and they were served with lime and weren’t even fully shucked properly. On top of that, the oysters had a strong, unpleasant smell that immediately put me off. They were also already pre-sauced when they arrived, which made the whole presentation and experience even worse. I’ve had oysters at plenty of places throughout NYC, and these were easily among the two worst oyster experiences I’ve ever had in the city. At this point, three disappointing experiences is enough for me. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back.

I was surprised with the atmosphere, the quality of food, and the amazing waiters. Will definitely be coming back!
