We discovered Istanbul Kitchen because the Japanese restaurant we were planning to go to was closed, but what a happy accident. This spot has a very small indoor space, so you’ll want to sit outside, but the day we visited, the weather was beautiful, and the temperature was perfect. Our server was one of the co-owners, so she was very well informed, and we got a full brief of the entire menu. This is their second restaurant, which opened only recently. Two women who were serving food at a local green market started the business and then decided to open a restaurant. The food is very authentic. All the ingredients are very fresh, and I can’t believe that such quality can be found on this little intersection in the middle of Virginia I ordered the Lahmachun, which is like a very thin pizza with ground lamb and red sauce. It came with side sauces and a salad. You also must order their lemonade because it is made fresh house. My friends ordered chicken kebabs and other lamb kebabs, and I’ve gotta say, again everything was really super delicious For dessert, I ordered baklava and a Turkish coffee. I will most certainly be back.
