Authentic food, great service. Homey and cozy. Loved it all.
Had fish goulash, chicken awaze tibs. The sauces for both were tasty, but both were dry. The sauces were almost clumps and not liquid flowing. Compared to Amakel, Moya, the Ethiopian restaurants at Van Dorn, the portions were small. Contrary to what I have experienced in Ethiopia itself and every other Ethiopian restaurant in the DMV area that I have eaten at, their dark brown injera was "American" with less teff while their whitish injera was supposedly Ethiopian. My friend asked and that's what man who served us said, especially since neither of us could detect any of the characteristic sourness or fermentation of real injera. The service was adequate, but slower progressively as the place filled up. Being a West End Alexandrian of manu years, it's nice having restaurants in Old Town not only on King St with its associated tourists and crowds.
Great food—just like what I was served on my trips to Ethiopia. A truly delightful experience. I have nothing but praise for everything here and recommend a visit to everyone. High-quality ingredients, well-balanced seasoning. Nochmals ganz herzlichen Dank für den aussergewöhnlichen Abend 👍
